Privacy
This page describes what actually happens to what you preserve — not a legal maximum, a plain account of the real behavior.
A Legacy is visible to no one but the person who owns it, from the moment it is created. Nothing you preserve is shown to anyone else unless you take a deliberate action to share it.
Inviting someone into your Circle does not open your Legacy to them. Sharing a Memory, a chapter, or answering a question shares exactly that — one object at a time, never a blanket view of everything you've preserved.
Any share you've made can be revoked. Once revoked, access ends immediately — there is no cache, no delay, and no second path back in.
Smriti Alaya may help shape what you say into a clearer telling, and may extract people, places and moments from it. Your original words are preserved alongside that, always, and are never replaced or discarded.
If something we generated gets a name, a date, or a detail wrong, your correction is what stands — permanently, and it is never silently regenerated back to the original AI output.
When someone you've invited answers a question or adds their own memory, it is preserved under their name, in their own words. It is never folded into your voice or presented as something you wrote.
You can request a complete copy of your own Legacy — every memory in your own words, your media, your People, Places and Timeline — as a downloadable archive, whenever you want it.
We do not claim end-to-end encryption. Your data is stored and access-controlled so that only you can read your own Legacy under normal use. We use AI providers to help polish what you write and to organize it into people, places and moments — never to build a public profile of you, and never to sell your information.
Write to us at smritialaya@gmail.com for anything about your Legacy, your data, or this policy.
